Want to join?
1254 Squadron offers an incredible combination of adventure, opportunity and fun. Cadets and adult volunteers all gain the same second-to-none experience where you can make lasting friendships and build upon your confidence, skills and achievements.
Cadets
Like most young people you’re probably looking for a challenge; something to bring out what you’re really capable of. 1254 is where you can get to prove it – you may even surprise yourself with what you can achieve.
Volunteers
If you’re aged over 20 you can volunteer. That’s it. We do not need you to have any military experience or any form of previous training – we’ll take care of that. We are just looking for enthusiastic individuals who can assist with running structured training and background activities to help our cadets get the most from their time with us. We will provide full support and bot on-squadron and away training, to support and train you as an individual to help become involved with the running of the squadron, at the expense of the RAF – you don’t need to pay for the training. As you progress you will also be given staff uniform, whether as a Civilian Instructor or if you choose to go down the uniformed NCO or Officer route.
The benefits of being part of the Air Cadets
Being part of the RAF Cadet Organisation is the same for volunteers as for cadets – the opportunity to be involved in lots of exciting activities plus develop your own personal skills and talents across a very wide range of different aspects ot fthe RAF cadets. As a volunteer this is free to you!

Parents
We’re very committed to keeping parents aware of what we do and the lengths we go to ensure that all our activities are safe, well organised and that our members gain a structured and invaluable experience. As part of the child support structure, all staff have to be reviewed by DBS (formerly CRB) checks and rigorous child protection processes to make sure all supervision activities involving children when on the squadron are kept safe as part of the RAF Air Cadet structure.
